Vinhomes breaks ground on an $18 billion city next to Ha Long Bay
Vinhomes broke ground on Global Gate Ha Long on December 19, 2025, in the wards of Tuan Chau, Ha An, and Dong Mai in Quang Ninh province, right beside the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ha Long Bay. At roughly 6,200 hectares, it now holds the record for the largest capital commitment in Vingroup's history: reported total investment, after adjustment, is close to $18 billion.
Land clearance is set to finish in the first quarter of 2026, with the first phase handed over by late 2026 or early 2027. The masterplan includes over 2,500 hectares of greenery and water, 200 kilometers of coastline, 12 golf courses across 950 hectares, a Vinmec Cleveland Clinic hospital, and a Vinschool campus. A planned high-speed rail line would cut the trip to Hanoi to about 23 minutes.
High-rise units are priced from roughly 1.6 to 6 billion VND, and detached villas run from 18 billion up to more than 60 billion VND. Vinhomes CEO Nguyen Thu Hang called it a milestone in building "large-scale mega urban areas meeting international standards." Whatever the marketing language, the early numbers back the confidence: more than 1,000 units reportedly changed hands in the first week of sales.
